Duane Sample

Jacksonville, Oregon mosaic artist Duane Sample has a deep appreciation for the beauty of human artistry in all its forms. The visual arts, classical music, dance and opera have long been his food for the soul. It is no surprise then to see these themes portrayed in his current body of work; the figures and faces of dancers and the great classical opera singers are the focal points of his large-scale mosaic panels. Duane also creates mosaic vases, urns and mandalas. Mandala is the Sanskrit word for circle. He notes that both mandala art and the mosaic media are ancient art forms which can be found in many diverse cultures.
